Regrets may be for what we have done or for things we left undone.
We can seek forgiveness for the former, but
the latter may lie forever beyond our reach.
They are things most often lamented by the dying,
as death comes to close the final portal of opportunity.

What a waste of all that I know and am
to see me dead and lying in the ground.
When I think what I could have been
is not my life somewhat obscene?
