The role of Jesus is a centre of controversy for Christians,
over whether Jesus is a divine Son to be worshipped,
or an earthly Lord to be obeyed and followed.
For belief in the divinity of Jesus need not impact
our behaviour, or our lives, or on how we live,
and hardly effects interactions with others;
whilst following his teaching and example
requires us to apply a moral filter
to every deed and interaction.
We each face this dilemma.
Is Jesus, for me, the divine Son,
or is he my example and my Lord?
The ancient concept of divine parenthood for earthly heroes
was an invention of the cultic priesthoods; has no reality.
It was shared with ancient Gods and even Caesars
But what might such parenthood imply
by way of power and authority?
