The idea of a God impregnated virgin is common to other earlier religions:
.. Buddha was born of a virgin, 550BC
..Horus was born of a virgin, 2000BC
..Indra was virgin born,800BC
..Adonis.. .. Zorastra ... etc.
It was a common concept, is neither original nor tenable,
but it does carry implications, which are hard to escape.
For a child of the Spirit, by whatever mechanism,
carries a cachet, an expectation, a wonder,
that we, mere mortals, clearly lack.
Unless, of course, this is merely
an ancient euphemism for an unknown father,
one who has done a runner, or was a mere "visitor".
Or, perhaps, in those days of Roman rape and pillage,
a member of the vengeful dominant occupying force,
exercising a soldier's rights of conquest.
