I was working with a team in F20 and living in Uppsala,
In the Scandic Hotel cleaning girls saw my bedside bible
and challenged me to meet them in the foyer that evening.
They asked if I would like to talk.

My team persuaded me to do so and left me there.
They went out to supper as planned.
We were still talking when they returned
and continued late into the night.

I went to their church at the next opportunity.

There I found a new form of divinity,
experiential surrender to the Spirit,
uncaring about sin or salvation,
or the other tawdry concerns
of Evangelical theology.
Uncomplicated!
