Mankind exists for our potential, not for our presence.

Prevented by love from insistence on our obedience,
God lures us with persisting voices to goodness;
tempts us to go the way of right, the best option.

Over millennia, the moral and spiritual compass of man
has evolved from brutal mindless aggression
to the sort of morality that many hold today,
following the lure of God to care for others
though still usually second to ourselves.

The purposes of any God surely requires that such evolution
takes us further onward on the route to ultimate holiness,
from morality to love of others without thought of self;
to love even the invisible God, in God's very image
to be equally loving, loved and lovable..

The purposes of Existence must lie in the guided evolution
of a beloved entity, perhaps humanity, which behaves
in the exalted manner we assign to divinity
is universally loving and lovable.

The purposes of such Existence must lie in leading us
towards that perfect state of existence
which Jesus is said to have called
the Kingdom of Heaven.

Yes, our God does care for every hair on our heads,
but often he may find them to be distasteful,
for we have not yet evolved into our destiny,
traversed the path that Jesus showed us;
become what we could be.
