God is real, God is good, God is Spirit,
but did God create,as a mother may create, for love
making something to be loved, to care for?
A focus of all that divine energy.

The ultimate gift of such a Lover would be freedom for the beloved.
Release of the child into the rough world.
To face the challenges of existence,
after the formative years.

So we were never puppets driven by a divine agenda,
nor constrained to a predestined path,
but released by love as free agents
always capable of going astray.

For freedom demands the reality of decision
between right and wrong, between good and evil.
The capability to ignore the lure of God's voice.
The conflict between self and love.

So the purposes of God are lost in ambiguity,
for even a Creator could not truly know
what autonomous Creation would decide;
can not predict the future
