Yet is such certainty
consistent with reality?




We believe the Bible to be the inspired,
the only infallible, authoritative Word of God
revealing the love of God to the world.
 As we are assured by:

1 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 2:13;

And we also thank God continually because,
when you received the word of God,
which you heard from us,
you accepted it not as a human word,
but as it actually is, the word of God,
which is indeed at work in you who believe.
2 Timothy 3:15-17 2 Timothy 3:15-17

from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures,
which are able to make you wise for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful
for teaching, rebuking, correcting
and training in righteousness,
so that the servant of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
John 3:16 John 3:16

For God so loved the world that
he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.


COMMENT
Such a fixed theology based on ancient literature
and a world-view from a time before scientific progress
leaves Christianity fixed in the past and unable to respond to change.
Maybe we can reconsider, or rethink such doctrine

 It seems strange, unethical, to reference the Bible
as the sole authority for its authority.

Modern biblical scholarship has no place here,
nor any thoughts of the bible's internal contradictions,
nor any view of the Bible as a child of its time.

There is no thought that the world has changed
and may need to look for new divine guidance
beyond the writings of ancient prophets,
appropriate to our own time and place.
