The first three Gospel accounts (The Synoptic Gospels) can be seen as descriptions
of a radical religio-political movement using coded language in their text
to protect the meaning and the participants from the authorities.

Tha Acts of the Apostles continues the Gospel accounts after the time of Christ.
It is mainly concerned with the creation of the church and endorsement of its teaching.

The Gospel of John describes the variant doctrine of a branch of the church,
that has separated from its Jewish roots.
Gospel of John.
The Gospel of Thomas lists sayings of Jesus, many of which differ from other Gospels.
It has been rejected by the church, even though obviously of ancient origin.
Some see it as pre-dating the Synoptic Gospels.
